OVERVIEW:

  • Scientists in the Sea (JSIS) was founded in 2005 with a mission of creating new divers, scientists, and engineers who possess the passion and skills to not only enjoy the ocean, but work to protect it.
  • JSIS teaches diving physiology, diving physics, equipment safety and usage, and trains students in American Academy of Underwater Sciences scientific diving and research techniques.

KEY EVENTS/PROGRAMS/SERVICES:

  • Scuba Diving & Associated Training: High school students are trained in scuba diving, physiology and safety, science diving techniques, and marine biology and aquatic stewardship. All high school students are supervised by undergraduate students, and all programs are managed by graduate students.
